FAQs

There are many powerful benefits of physician dispensing, including more revenue, improved patient outcomes, increased operational efficiency, greater patient convenience and satisfaction, and more.

Patient convenience, compliance and affordability are some of the top reasons. Patients often appreciate physician medication dispensing because they can avoid a trip to the pharmacy as well as the need to wait for their prescription to be filled. Patients often save money by obtaining their prescription at the doctor’s office versus the pharmacy.

No! The whole process of dispensing the medication should take a few minutes through our web-based software. With a few clicks, the necessary documentation for both the patient and provider is printed for review.

Physician dispensing is allowed in most US states provided that state-specific regulations are met; however, there are a very small number of states where in-office dispensing is heavily regulated or not permitted. These regulations are continuously changing, and we recommend that you contact us through our contact form or give us a call at (877) 885-0882 to discuss your specific situation.

This is known as “mid-level dispensing” and while it is permitted in many states, the specific regulations vary widely by state and are often changing.

All medications dispensed from the practice will be prepacked. There is no pill counting or medication mixing required. Our software prints the prescription labels and all other required documentation during the dispense process.

Dispensing a prescription should take no more than a few minutes and not require any additional staff (or equipment). Your DispenseDoc Team will be available for any questions along the way!

The DispenseDoc system communicates with PBMs (pharmacy benefit managers) with the same technology as retail pharmacies.
